The Kirin Tor are based primarily in Dalaran, the main city in Northrend. However, members of the Kirin Tor are based in small camps around Northrend. Both the Horde and Alliance can become exalted with this faction.
Neutral Reputation with the Kirin Tor
If players begin questing in the Northrend starting zone of Borean Tundra, they will soon encounter the Kirin Tor as they have members at Amber Ledge and Coldarra. Interacting with any member of the Kirin Tor will make a player neutral and quests will become available immediately.
Both of these camps in Borean Tundra are neutral so both Horde and Alliance players can complete the same quests. There is also a number of quests which give reputation with the Kirin Tor available in Dragonblight, at the Alliance camp of Star’s Rest and the Horde camp Agmar’s Hammer, the quest chains available for the opposing factions are effectively the same.
Dungeon and Daily Quests
If a player completes all the Kirin Tor quests available in Borean Tundra and Dragonblight, they will have already gained a significant proportion of reputation. There are two dungeon quests available from Borean Tundra which are completed in The Nexus, which grant a lot of experience and reputation. In Dalaran also, a player can pick up a dungeon quest to kill the main boss in the Violet Hold dungeon.
There is also a daily cooking and daily fishing quest available in Dalaran which give reputation with the Kirin Tor. The daily cooking quest does require the player to have the relevant cooking skill level, although there are no restrictions for the fishing quests. As well as gold and reputation for completing these dailies, sometimes a player will get a quest item to be handed in for even more Kirin Tor reputation. Players who have the jewel crafting skill can also complete an additional daily quest for extra reputation. Level 80 players can complete the weekly raid quests which when handed in grant Kirin Tor reputation.
Kirin Tor Tabard
As with other Northrend factions, as soon as a player is friendly with the Kirin Tor, they can purchase a tabard from the quartermaster. Equipping the tabard gives the player extra reputation for killing mobs and bosses in Northrend heroic and level 80 dungeons. Players can also exchange Emblems of Triumph for Kirin Tor Commendation Badges which boost reputation when clicked.
Becoming exalted with the Kirin Tor earns the player an achievement and it is also part of the meta-achievement ‘Northrend Vanguard’ which additionally requires exalted reputation with the Knights of the Ebon Blade, the Wyrmrest Accord and the Argent Crusade.
